New bank account number for VAT payments to the Dutch Tax Authorities as from 1 May 2026

Apr 30
As from 1 May 2026, the Dutch Tax Authorities will switch from ING to Rabobank.

As a result, the bank account number used for payments to the Tax Authorities, including VAT payments, will also change.

For businesses that make VAT payments manually or via stored payment details, it is important to verify in due time whether the current bank account number is stored in their banking environment, accounting records or ERP system.

When is no action required?

In principle, no action is required if you make payments via iDEAL | Wero in Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk or via direct debit. In these cases, the bank account number will be updated automatically.

When is action required?

You should review and, where necessary, update the bank account number if you:
  • make VAT payments via online banking or a banking app
  • use paper-based transfers
  • have stored the Tax Authorities’ payment details in your banking environment, accounting records or ERP system
  • have set up recurring payments

New bank account number for VAT payments

The current bank account number is:
NL86 INGB 0002 4455 88
in the name of Belastingdienst

As from 1 May 2026, the new bank account number will be:
NL04 RABO 0200 1122 44
in the name of Belastingdienst

For payments from a foreign bank account, the following BIC applies as from 1 May 2026:
RABONL2U

If your bank requires an 11-character BIC, you should use:
RABONL2UXXX

Payment reference remains essential

For each VAT payment, the correct payment reference must be included. Without the correct reference, or if it is entered in the wrong field, the Tax Authorities may not be able to process the payment correctly.

Payments made to the old bank account after 1 May 2026

If you make a payment to the old bank account of the Tax Authorities after 1 May 2026, this payment will still be processed. However, it is recommended to switch to the new bank account number as soon as possible in order to avoid errors or delays.

Action point

We recommend verifying already now where the current bank account number of the Tax Authorities is stored. This includes payment templates, banking applications, accounting software and ERP systems.

If we prepare VAT returns or provide payment instructions on your behalf, we will of course include the relevant payment details based on the official information from the Tax Authorities.
